Future Makers Recently in 2014 working in close partnership with Muireann Charleton, Education & Innovation Manager, of the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland (DCCoI), we have re-designed the visual brand identity for the Future Makers project (original work in liaison with Louise Allen, Head of Innovation, DCCoI). This was an exciting project and as the target audience was students the door was open to a unique approach. From the beginning we wanted to create a very strong identity with a gutsy approach to typography. We looked at a range of design approaches and decided that the use of an ultra bold typeface style would allow us to use the letters as visual picture frames or windows, to the fantastic craft work being created by students. Since then we have updated the identity each year taking it a new and fresh direction. From the outset we were keen that the communication channels to be employed were those that the students use. To that end social media was going to play a critical role. The website was created to facilitate easy communication of news and support to the students presenting video, case studies and examples of winners projects and more. Shannon Heritage Website The new web site for Shannon Heritage features exciting photography of visitors to Bunratty and King John’s Castle which was commissioned and art directed by Roomthree Design for this project. It was important to Shannon Heritage that sub-sections of the site for key attractions such as Bunratty could retain their own identity and present as a web site in their own right. As with the Defence Forces this was achieved by presenting internal landing pages for each attraction that use the conventions of a home page. Coillte Outdoors Website Coillte Outdoors came into being when our research for the main corporate site clearly indicated the level of public interest in the companies recreational sites. That was back in 2004 and since then the site has gone through a number of development stages, including most recently retro-fitting responsive templates and adding comprehensive mapping functionality with mobile use in mind. Defence Forces Website We have worked on a number of projects for the Department of Defence and the Defence Forces of Ireland over the last number of years including the main website www.military.ie, the Archival website www.militaryarchives.ie and the brand identity of the Defence Forces. We have also designed and developed the website to present MSPC AdLib database which is due to be launched soon. Key aspects of this project included: integration of social media and video, management and formatting of significant volumes of content and custom databases of archival materials, responsive design, custom Google map functionality, interactive time-line development, Apple IOS and Android Apps, bi-lingual functionality. The Web Awards voted military.ie as the best Government website shortly after it’s launch.
